Book Review: Noteworthy

TITLE: Noteworthy
AUTHOR: Riley Redgate
CATEGORY: YA
PUBLISHED: May 2nd, 2017
CATEGORY: YA
GENRE: Contemporary
PREMISE: A girl who can't get into her school's musical grows desperate and decides to try out for the school's a capella group. The all male a capella group.
MY REVIEW: I'll be honest, I went into this one very wary. Modern cross-dressing tales can be...iffy shall we say. But this one managed to be a pleasant surprise by avoiding all the usual pitfalls that come with this trope.
I do think some things here and there could have been handled better. For instance the ending was just way too convenient and had very little payoff to me. But it was a cute and entertaining story. The characters are all very charming and it was just...fun.
So it was a little rough in places. But for the most part, this was fun and cute contemporary that is a good way to spend an afternoon. I do mean an afternoon. It goes by really quickly.
WHO SHOULD READ: Becky Albertalli fans, those looking for cute contemporary books
MY RATING: Four out of Five a capella groups
