Thematic Sunday: Books With Spies/Undercover Agents

So the Agent Carter series has finally begun and I'm in freaking love. In honor of my new found love, this week is going to be books with spies/undercover agents/people in secret security organizations etc. Oh, and if you haven't seen Agent Carter yet, please do so. I'll wait and totally fangirl with you.

1) Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy by John Le Carre

Really, anything Le Carre related is usually about spies or people in deep undercover. But this one is probably his best. Also check out the awesome movie with Gary Oldman.

2) The James Bond series by Ian Fleming

You can't talk about spies without talking James Bond. Also check out all of the stellar movies and BBCs The Man Who Would be Bond series, semi-based on the author's own spy life.

3) The Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter

Perfect for Agent Carter fans. This one is about a school that trains girls to be spies. If that's not enough to pique your interest, then I don't know what is.

4) The Alex Rider series by Anthony Horrowitz

About a teenage boy who discovers his uncle was a spy and gets caught up in spy shenanigans when he investigates his death.

5) The Squad series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

About a group of cheerleaders who are actually undercover operatives.

6) Harriet the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh

Okay, calling Harriet a spy might be a stretch. She's more along the lines of a really nosy and observant middle-schooler. But I loved this book as a kid and I say it fits. Also check out the well done nineties movie that actually follows the book.

7) Also Known As series by Robin Benway

Fun little series about a girl who's parents are spies and she has to go on the case to find them when they disappear.

8) The Agency series by Y. S. Lee

Great historical series about a girl in the Victorian era who gets trained as a spy for Queen and country.

9) Finishing School series by Gail Carriger

Fun steampunk series about girls training to be spies. Spin-off of the Parasol Protectorate though it is not necessary to read that series to get this one. But totally read that series anyway because it's awesome.

10) Gabriel Allon series by Daniel Silva

About an art restorer who is also a spy.

Also check out: anything Tom Clancy, David Baldacci, and Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein
