Book Review: Die For Me
TITLE: Die For Me
Book 1 in the Revenants series
AUTHOR: Amy Plum
PUBLISHED: 2011
CATEGORY: Young adult
GENRE: paranormal, romance
PREMISE: A girl falls in love with a guy in Paris only to learn that he's a revenant-someone who dies and comes back to life.
MY REVIEW: I had no idea what to expect from this book. It hasn't been a huge one on the bloggersphere. And I certainly see why because honestly it's pretty average. The whole girl meets supernatural guy thing has been done to death and this did not do anything hugely creative with it. But nor did it totally flop either.
As usual the romance was blah and slightly overdramatic. What saves this book from being a total snore is the interesting dynamics in Vincent's group and the idea of the Revenants which was actually rather creative. I also liked that the author did not ignore the issues in the relationship even though in the end she and Vincent were still okay of course.
So I say it's a decent first effort. Writer needs to work a bit on prose and cheesy dialogue but I am sort of interested in seeing where this goes. The next book comes out next year.
WHO SHOULD READ: Twilight fans, romance fans
MY RATING: Three and a half out of Five paris cafes
