Looking Ahead: November 2016

Here are all the November book releases on my radar that you can probably expect reviews for at some time in the future.

Released November 1rst:

The Naturals Book 4: Bad Blood by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Barnes has been knocking it out of the park with series lately. This one is her latest in The Naturals series (possibly the last, but never say never in YA).

Amateurs Book 1: The Amateurs by Sara Shepard

A new series from the author of Pretty Little Liars. I have mixed feelings about said series, but Shepard spins some interesting mysteries, so I will be giving this a look....eventually.

The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon

New contemporary from the author of Everything Everything. Take a moment and stare at that gorgeous cover.







Released November 8th:

Heartless by Marissa Meyer

A retelling of Alice in Wonderland from the Queen of Hearts point of view by the author of Lunar Chronicles? Sign me up!

Timekeeper Book 1: Timekeeper by Tara Sim

New steampunk series that looks interesting and I'm loving that it includes an LGBT romance. Yay for more fantasy LGBT books!







Released November 15th:

Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick

Another awesome lady celeb releasing a memoir. I will definitely be reading this at some point.

Star Wars Rogue One: Catalyst by James Luceno

The Star Wars books have been knocking it out of the park for me lately. I'm really looking forward to Rogue One, so I can't wait to read this one.

Swing Time by Zadie Smith

I've been hearing a lot about Zadie Smith, I'll be looking into this interesting book that has been buzzed about a lot on the adult fiction book circuit.







November 22nd:

Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurt

Another LGBT fantasy! Yes! This one about two princesses falling in love.

Scythe Book 1: Scythe by Neal Shusterman

Interesting looking new series from the author of the Unwinded series.








November 29th:

Searching for John Hughes by Jason Diamond

Interesting looking non-fiction about a guy and his connections/feelings about movie director John Hughes

Talking As Fast As I Can by Lauren Graham

Just in time for the new revival coming, the star of Gilmore Girls has a memoir out.

Tearling Book 3: The Fate of the Tearling by Erika Johansen

Finally the conclusion to the Tearling trilogy comes out. I admit, I wasn't that into this series in the beginning. I thought it was just okay. But that second book took things to another level and I can't wait to see how this ends.

Looking Ahead: October 2016

This is a tad late. I apologize. Family visited so the beginning of the month has been a bit wacky. But here are all the books on my radar that are releasing in October. If you thought September was busy, you ain't seen nothing yet:

The Wangs VS The World by Jade Chang

A adult fiction debut that has been getting lots of buzz.

Rebel Genius by Michael Dante DiMartino

Fantasy from one of the people involved with Avatar: The Last Airbender? Sign me up!

Spare and Found Parts
Interesting looking fantasy/sci-fi debut

Replica Book 1 by Lauren Oliver

I'm a little hesitant about this one, because the way it's apparently written sounds very gimmicky. But, I'm always willing to give Oliver a chance because she always has creative ideas floating around.

Magnus Chase Book 2: The Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan

I'm pretty sure everyone knows this one is out. But in case you didn't.

Crosstalk by Connie Willis

Adult sci-fi novel that looks interesting. I've heard a lot about Connie Willis but haven't gotten to her books yet. Maybe this will be my intro.

Yesternight by Cat Winters

I'm always up for a Cat Winters book.








October 11th:

Bound by Blood and Sand Book 1 by Becky Allen

Sounds like a potentially cool dark fantasy.

Ahsoka by E. K. Johnston

I didn't even have to read the synopsis of this book. All I know is it's about Ahsoka, my second favorite character from the Star Wars universe. I'm in. I wish the author was different, because the one Johnston book I read didn't impress me much, but I'm hoping that was just that one book or something.

Still Life With Tornado by A. S. King

I'm always up for an A. S. King book. Vastly underrated author.

Young Elites Book 3: The Midnight Star by Marie Lu

I completely underestimated this trilogy. The beginning was solid, but didn't grab my attention much. But that second book. Damn. THAT is how you twist things. I can't wait to see how this goes down.

Iron Cast by Destiny Soria

Historical Fantasy. I'm a sucker for it. This one is no exception.

Beast by Brie Spangler

Beauty and the Beast contemporary retelling with Belle as a trans girl. I'm here for it.

Black Widow Book 2: Red Vengeance by Margaret Stohl

Another Marvel/media tie-in book. There are a lot good ones coming out this month. If only they would get that Captain Marvel YA book they were talking about out.






October 18th:

Boy series Book 4: The Boy is Back by Meg Cabot

It's Cabot. I'm going to read it. She seems to be continuing her nostalgia trip by reviving an old adult series which were romances told through things like emails, receipts, anything electronic/paper. If this is as fun as the others, I'll enjoy it a lot.

The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher

After finally reading and loving Wishful Drinking, I can't wait to read Fisher's newest book.

Illuminae Files Book 2: Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

I still think this series is pretty generic, but it's fun enough that I'm continuing anyway.






October 25th:

Iron Man: The Gauntlet by Eoin Colfer

Marvel continues its descent into publishing books and I'm here for it every step of the way.







There are a lot more then this coming out this month, but I fear if I list all the books I'm interested in this month, this post will be way too long. Just know, it's a pretty awesome month for publishing.

Looking Ahead: September, 2016

Hold on to your hats, kids. This list is going to be LONG. Because pretty much everything awesome is coming out this fall. September is a big book month.

September 3rd:

Miss Peregrine: Tales of the Peculiar by Ransom Riggs

I know what you're thinking, isn't this series over?! It is. This is apparently a companion book that has a bunch of short stories about some of the side characters in Miss Peregrine. I'm pretty apathetic about this series (I also still need to read the last book) but I enjoyed the side characters so I'm actually kind of interested in this one.




September 6th:

Everfair by Nisi Shawl

Adult alternate history. I'm a sucker for these things.








Also out this date: printed versions of the scripts of Welcome to Night Vale episodes. Night Vale fans, rejoice!

September 13th:

The Forgetting by Sharon Cameron

Sharon Cameron book, I'm here for anything she writes.

Sea of Ink and Gold Book 1: The Reader by Traci Chee

This is a pretty big buzzy book and one of my personal anticipated releases. I can't wait to get my hands on it.

The Peculiar Night of the Blue Heart by Lauren DeStefano

For some reason I can't seem to quit giving DeStefano more chances, despite not being overly impressed with her books in the past. Maybe her middle-grade reads will appeal to me more?

Laetitia Rodd Mystery Book 1: The Secrets of Wishtide by Kate Saunders

Yes, another historical mystery series. What can I say, I'm addicted to the genre.

Nova Project Book 1: Gamescape: Overworld by Emma Trevayne

Adult sci-fi/dystopian book that looks relatively interesting. I'll give it a look sometime.

Where Am I Now?: True Stories of Girlhood and Accidental Fame by Mara Wilson

The first of many awesome lady celeb books coming out this fall.







September 20th (aka, the day everything is coming out):

Kate Daniels 9: Magic Binds by Ilona Andrews

Having now finally caught up on this series, I can now read the new releases. Woohoo!

Worldwalker Trilogy Book 3: Witch's Pyre by Josephine Angelini

I seem to be unable to give up reading Angelini's books despite the fact that most of them are somewhat silly and cliche.

Three Dark Crowns Book 1 by Kendare Blake

I am here for anything Kendare Blake writes. I'm thrilled she's moved onto fantasy.

Flavia de Luce Book 8: Thrice the Brinded Cat Hath Mew'd by Alan Bradley

For the life of me, I don't understand why this series is sold as adult fiction. It's clearly middle-grade. I'm trying not to think it has something to do with it being a male author, but...it's getting hard. Still, it's a highly enjoyable series, and I will be reading this whenever I finally catch up. I'm on book 4, so not long now.

Kingdom on Fire Book 1: A Shadow Bright and Burning by Jessica Cluess

Another big buzzy book that looks very awesome. So many cool looking fantasy books out in September. It makes me very happy.

The Queens of Renthia Book 1: The Queen of Blood by Sarah Beth Durst

I'm here for anything Sarah Beth Durst does. I'm thrilled she's getting back into high fantasy and is finally doing a series.

Stalking Jack the Ripper Book 1 by Kerri Maniscalco

Mostly interested because of the title. That is a good title.

The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis

Thriller sort of book that has been getting lots of buzz. I've heard good things about Mindy McGinnis so I'll give it a look.

Stealing Snow Book 1 by Danielle Paige

Due to the low ratings on Goodreads I don't have high hopes for this one. But I'm giving it a shot since Dorothy Must Die surprised me so much. Plus, we all know I'm a sucker for the fairy-tale retellings.

Vassa in the Night by Sarah Porter

Another fairy-tale retelling that I'm reading mostly because I'm a sucker for them.

Metaltown by Kristen Simmons

I liked the Artlicle 5 trilogy a lot and like fairy-tale retellings, I'm a sucker for steampunk books.







September 27th:

Six of Crows Book 2: Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

I think everyone and their mother knows this one is coming out. But in case you didn't...

Shirley Jackson: A Rather Haunted Life by Ruth Franklin

Biography about the author of The Lottery, The Haunting of Hill House and so on? Yes please.

The Secret Keepers by Trenton Lee Stewart

I admit, I wasn't terribly into the Mysterious Benedict Society. But this sounds more my thing and I always give authors second chances if I've found their writing was good.
