Book Review: Unholy Ghosts

TITLE: Unholy Ghosts
Book 1 in the Downside Ghosts
AUTHOR: Stacia Kane
PUBLISHED: 2010
CATEGORY: Adult
GENRE: Urban fantasy, paranormal
PREMISE: Chess is a paranormal catcher on the job for a dirty drug dealer. The case she's on winds up being more then expected.
MY REVIEW: Again, not many feelings about this book. It had a very interesting idea for sure. I loved the world that Kane created. It's interesting. In that it was very creative. However everything else? Typical UF du jour.
Tough heroine with multiple love interests? Check. Random sex out of no where? Check. Mystery to solve? Check (thankfully this one was interesting). Because the heroine is tough, she is bitchy to everyone? Check. Yeah, nothing new to see here folks. Move on.
If you're in the mood for a UF and don't care about uniqueness then yes, I rec this. The plot is okay, the mystery is decent, and the characters flawed. But if you want to feel like you're reading something fresh and new, I wouldn't bother.
WHO SHOULD READ: urban fantasy fans who don't care about uniqueness
MY RATING: Three out of Five ghosts
